A Message from your PTA President!

Parents,

Welcome back (digitally) to the 2020/21 school year at Fox Mill. For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Matt Hickes (pronounced like ficus with an “H”) and I’m the Fox Mill Elementary School PTA President.

First of all, Congratulations! We made it through the first week of 100% virtual learning for our children. This past week reminded me of one of my favorite scenes from the sitcom 30 Rock. Tina Fey’s character says to Alec Baldwin, “What a week, huh” and his response is “Lemon, it’s Wednesday”. That was most definitely our house on Wednesday!

With that said, there are may people that need congratulated for the wonderful job that was done this past week and weeks ahead to continue to teach our students. The county, and more importantly for us, our administration at Fox Mill and our wonderful teachers and aides have put in countless hours to make sure that this past week (and the weeks ahead) will help our students continue to learn and grow as effectively at home as they do in the classroom. Thank you to our teachers, specialists, instructional assistants, and our administration! And thank you to the parents, grandparents, guardians, friends, and everyone else helping our students learn at home.

We have also added a FAQ page on our FoxMillPTA.com website to answer your questions about our mission and goals for the upcoming year.

Our biggest goal for the year is to raise additional funds to enhance our new playground with equipment and sun shades. We completed our Fun Run prior to the start of school to kick off our fundraising campaign for the year and hope to raise funds in additional ways as the year progresses.
